Sonoma Valley Vineyard
The blooming yellow mustard provided a vibrant spring carpet for the resting grapevines at a vineyard in Sonoma Valley. We lunched outdoors on this wonderful spring day and watched menacing clouds swoop over this dramatic setting.

Coonans Persimmon Orchard
I walk by Coonan's orchard on my walks toward the creek and have seen it at all seasons and at one time planned painting a seasonal series of it. Perhaps I will yet get to this.

Our Birch Trees
We watch the green buds of the birch open in the spring. The seeds spill like wheat germ in late summer and their golden ochre leaves flutter to the ground in the autumn. It is when the white trunks are exposed during winter that I like them best of all.

Stanford Hills
Stanford University students and Peninsula residents enjoy a spectacular view when they hike or jog the crest of these open-space hills behind the campus. It is frequently leased for cattle grazing so it pays to watch where you step. Orange California poppies blanket the hills in the spring. The asphalt road winding through the area was built to service a number of Stanford's huge dishpan antennas that perch on the hilltop like big, open flowers.
