Marbling
Floating Pigments
Marbling is a pretty straight forward process. Float some pigments on top of water, comb the pigments in different directions to create patterns, carefully lay your paper or fabric on top, lift and there you have it.

Marbling a Sweatshirt
You can have only so many fabric squares and theyou want to try something new. I decided to marble a large white sweat shirt. To keep the item flat so I could control it during the dip I cut out large cardboard stretchers.
Finishing the Sweatshirt
You need to have a tray large enough for the item you are dipping but small enough so you can control it. The sweat shirts were dipped in two shots on either side. here is a sweatshirt on its final dip.
Out to Dry
Marbling is fun. Soon enough you will have a lot of marbled squares of fabric.
Marbling a Stool
Once I got started marbling I thought why stop at flat objects? I decided to try it with a stool. Instead of a tray you need something deep enough to dip the entire object.
Dipping the Legs
I marbled the stools in two steps. First the top. Then I flipped the stool over and dipped the legs.
Three Marbled Stools
And they were fun and challenging projects
