People and Music
Accordion Dancers
This couple lived in my mind a few weeks after seeing them at the annual Accordion Festival up in Cotati, California. Now they live on canvas
Peter and His Saxophone
Jazz Night with Peter MacDonough. I watched musicians, books and internet looking for a musician who played the saxophone with bent knees. Believe it or not, I found Peter MacDonough playing the sax at our Redwood City Farmer's Market where he entertained the crowd on a Saturday morning. I was so happy to find him.
Greek Dancer
The graceful movements of Greek dancing led me to do many sketches of dancers in groups and solo. This is my second painting from the Greek dance series.
Banjo Man
A fellow who has spent much of his life to benefit a Little Theater group in Bremerton, Washington. No, he doesn't play a banjo, but it looks good in his lap.
Banjo Player
I found a large group of Senior Citizens entertaining the crowds at the Farmers Market and they were having a wonderful time. The crowd enjoyed them also. They have several women in the group. I was quite interested in this gentleman who was so intent on his fingering; later I attended one of their daytime rehearsals to get further sketches.
Bass Player
Violin Repair
Greek Dancers
The gestures of vigorous Greek dancing are wonderful to watch. I sketched these three dancers and combined them in this painting.
Ballroom Dancers
Banjo Player #2
Fond of ragtime, this fellow never saw a piano that he didn't want to play or take apart.
Clarinet Practice
A teenager practices clarinet late in the afternoon.
