Evening News
Taggitt, a Scottish Deerhound belonging to our son, was the inspiration for this painting. He was the most laid-back, laid-down dog you could ever run into. In fact, you probably would "step over" him rather than "run into" him for he was usually flopped on the floor looking an awful lot like roadkill. He did not drink Mexican beer, that was my idea.
Golden Goose
Trying to chase a gaggle of honking geese that do not want to go where you would like is frustrating. They stop and keep looking over their shoulder to see if you are still following. I learned that a goose hen on her nest has something to protect and is a formidable pile of puffed feathers, flopping wings and a menacing arched neck all headed meanfully in your direction at once. Not a pretty sight, Mama Goose!

Purple Cow
Gelett Burgess (1866-1951) Wrote:
I never saw a purple cow
I hope I never see one,
But I can tell you this right now:
I'd rather see than be one.
I saw a purple cow. Now you have also.
Small Bird
Hard to resist sketching these helpless little creatures, all puffed out to keep warm and waiting for their parents to pop another worm in their mouths.
Three Geese
This tall canvas 12 x 36 leaned against the studio wall for over a year, waiting for some subject matter to come and fill the canvas. I was delighted to find some geese to sketch and made certain their necks filled that space.
